Acupressure
Acupressure is the use of pressure from the fingertips on the Acu
points. These are the same points used in Acupuncture, only in Acupuncture
very thin needles are used to stimulate the points. In Acupressure
each hand stimulates one point, so usually 2 points are held at
a time. An Acupuncturist once told me: Acupuncture works faster,
but the results of Acupressure last longer. Both subtly balance
the chi (life force) in the body. Clients have reported: "I feel
more balanced", "I sleep better", "I think clearer", "I feel more
energy in my body". My experience has shown it to be beneficial
in dealing with stress, anger, fear, grief, burn-out, when quitting
smoking or drug use, and for general well-being. I learned Acupressure
at the Acupressure Institute
in Berkeley, California, a wonderful school.
- When a
roommate of mine had quit smoking tobacco, she was "a little
less relaxed" than before. We used to call it, "she was bouncing
off the walls". Whenever I gave her an Acupressure treatment,
she would be so much calmer, relaxed, more balanced afterwards.
- A few times
I had the pleasure of giving an Acupressure treatment
to a person with a migraine. Each time, the migraine was gone
by the end of the session.
- I often
use Acupressure, when a person has lower back pain. I have found
that about 90% of the lower back pain problems respond best
to Acupressure.
- One time
a friend of mine had a cold or flu or something, she was all
achy and probably had a temperature. I gave her an hour Acupressure,
and her aching and temperature were gone by the end of that
hour.
